In 2015, StretchLab began its journey in bringing the benefits of assisted stretching to its communities. Since then, they have opened 500 studios nationwide, with the newest studio opening in Honolulu, HI! This milestone could not have been possible without the amazing support from all of their communities, embracing the benefits of assisted stretching.
In recognition of the support from the Honolulu community, studio owner, Cole R and area manager, Adam B, shared their journey about bringing assisted stretching to Honolulu!
Why did you open a StretchLab in this community of Honolulu?
Seeing the impact of our first two studios in Kailua and Kahala helped us decide to continue growing, and we knew the Kaka’ako neighborhood—where people are so active and connected to nature—was the perfect fit for StretchLab. People here value movement, whether they’re hiking up Tantalus or surfing the North Shore. We wanted to give our community the tools to keep doing what they love for longer, pain-free.
Why do residents of Honolulu need assisted stretching?
Honolulu is all about movement, as the gathering place for all of Hawai’i. From strolling the beach to hiking the pali, our community is constantly on the go. But with that active lifestyle comes a need for recovery and balance. Assisted stretching helps keep our kama’aina moving freely, reducing tightness, preventing injury, and optimizing performance for everything they do.
What’s been your favorite part about opening a StretchLab in this community?
It’s the people, hands down. Our members are incredible humans—supportive, warm, and ready to embrace something new. I love the energy in the studio, hearing our Flexologists talk story with members, and watching someone new walk in with tightness or discomfort and leave with a smile, ready to take on their next adventure.
What’s something that you’ve learned that is unique to your Honolulu community?
The deep sense of aloha has been eye-opening. We’ve learned that here, people aren’t just looking for a service—they’re looking for someone to listen and truly care about helping them regain mobility and movement. It’s not just about getting a good stretch; it’s about being part of a community that genuinely cares for each other’s well-being. That sense of interconnectedness has shaped the way we run our studios, focusing on creating an experience that’s as nurturing and hospitable as it is beneficial.
How does it feel to be part of StretchLab’s 500th milestone?
It’s surreal! But it’s more than just a number to us—it represents how far StretchLab has come and the role we get to play in helping people improve their quality of life, one stretch at a time. We’re incredibly proud, but also humbled, knowing we’re part of something bigger.
What are you looking forward to in the coming future for this studio?
We’re excited to keep expanding, with Honolulu as our flagship studio in Oahu! We had the opportunity to build this studio from the ground up, in the new Ko’ula luxury tower, and it looks spectacular. This is just the beginning, too. StretchLab has already helped so many people here feel and move better, and we’re looking forward to reaching even people more across the island. We have plans to bring StretchLab to new communities, deepen our roots in Honolulu, and serve the whole island with gratitude.
